O: How much does a Pictorial
cost?
A: This will vary depending upon the amount of pictures, restoration
and editing. If you request a typical 20 minute pictorial created with 80 photos,
you’re total price including editing will be about $200.00 This would include: 80
scanned pictures ($1.00per scanned photograph) and 1 & ½ hrs worth of editing.
($85.00 per hour).
You receive 1 finished DVD-R Pictorial.
Q:
How long will my completed pictorial be?
A: The answer is, as long as you
want it to be, given the allotted timeframe of a standard DVD (2 hours). However
our suggested time is limit is 20 or 30 minutes.
This will allow 4 or 5 segments
of your pictorial (20 to 25 pictures each segment).
Q:
How many pictures can I use on a pictorial?
A: This is one of those tricky
questions that we are frequently asked. The amount of photos one uses is entirely
up to you. We suggest that you keep in mind your audience and how long you would
like to keep them engaged. Our suggested Pictorial is approximately 20 min. With
a 20 min pictorial your looking at roughly 4 segments and (with approx. 4 min music
tracks - i.e. songs) and anywhere from 60 to 80 scanned photos. You may decide that
you have much more photos that you would like scanned in, and that’s fine by us.
However, keep in mind that the standard DVD’s we use will only allow up to 2 hours
worth of footage. So, how many pictures can you put on a 2 hour DVD? With music,
and transition time? This really does vary for each project, but roughly 3 to 400
photos.
Q: How long
does each image appear on screen?
A: This too will vary but the average is
5 to 10 seconds. Because our editing process incorporates timing, effects and titles…
there is no exact limit placed on transition time. Some photos are slowly faded in
on, whereas others are shorter burst of imagery timed to the rhythmic beat of the
provided music track. The decision is ultimately left up to our professional editing
personnel. See Demo!
Q:
What about the photo order. Who decides on where which pictures is placed in the
timeline?
A: Unless you leave it up to us, you do. It is critical that you
number each picture in the order in which you would like them displayed during playback.
You can do this by using numbered sticky notes carefully apply to the backs of each
picture. This way we also have a record of how many photos we have received from
you and must return.
Q:
What about titles and/or captions, how should I go about suggesting these for my
pictorial?
A: Again, using applied sticky notes, we further suggest that you
write down any and all caption title notes you would like displayed. It is encouraged
that you don’t add a caption title to every photo as your project then tends to become
more of a visual subtitled media and can be boring or overbearing for most audiences.
Instead, we suggest you number one lead photo with a title ( i.e. Lucy’s first birthday
party) and include all proceeding photos from that event in numbered succession.
NOTE: We do create various pictorials used for artwork documentation, valuables,
and specific numbered items - whereas the client will require a title to each photo
for cataloging purposes.
Q:
Is there an extra fee for titles and effects?
A: No. Titles, Effects and Transitions
are included in the editing process.
Q:
Can I add video to my pictorial?
A: Yes. But note that by adding video footage
to your project, you are now falling under a video transfer service (with added pictures
& music).
Q: What is transition
time?
A: Transition time is how long each image appears on screen.
Q:
What about fades, movement & effects to my photos and between each pictures.
Who decides that?
A: Here you must allow our expertise. We decide which effects
are best suited for each photograph… and to date we have had no complaints. If there
is a particular part of a photograph that you would like us to focus attention on,
please make specific note of it prior to the editing process. However, clients are
welcome to come in and work with our specialist during editing but keep in mind that
full editing fees will apply.
Q:
Can you transfer slide film?
Yes. If your images are preserved on slide film,
we can transfer them to our format priror to editing. $1.50 per slide
Q:
What if some of my pictures are stored on a picture CD already. Can I still use them?
A:
Absolutely. We can download your photos and temporarily store them on our editing
hard drive for use. The numbering process can be a bit challenging as these photos
are usually pre-numbers in a random code ( i.e. DSC40538) but with a little help
from you, this too can be easily remedied. Call for assistance.
Q:
Can you restore the look of my old photos?
A: Yes. We do offer complete photo
restoration service. You can have B/W photos colorized, cracks and stains repair
or removed, enlargements, etc... This added feature of older vintage photos can greatly
enhance the look of grainy old photographs for premium playback. Restoration fee
is $75.00 per photograph.
Q:
Are my precious photos safe with you? How long will you have them?
A: The
short and legal answer here is "They are as safe as we can provide". Although
we have NEVER had any damage occur to anyone’s property while in our care, our insurance
coverage will not allow us to imply that we are 100% safe. If there is a break-in,
theft, fire, flood or any other natural act, we can not be held responsible. We can
guarantee that your photos will be handled with delicate care and concern, and returned
to you as soon as possible. We can call you for pick up of your photos once as we
have scanned them all into our editing computer, usually 2 or 3 days (depending upon
the amount and work schedule). Please note that upon receiving your photos, we will
count, categorize and consult with you prior to editing.
Q:
How long does it take from start to finish of a pictorial process?
A: Each
pictorial is unique to us. We like to take our time as to guarantee your happiness.
With this in mind, we have a standard turnaround time period of 2 weeks. However,
some projects have taken as long as a month depending upon our work schedule or photo
restoration. Please note that during the holiday season (Thanksgiving, Christmas
& New Year) is our busiest time period.
Q:
I would like additional copies of my DVD Pictorial. How much is that?
A: $7.00
per copy up to 25. For additional copies, please refer to our DVD Duplication page.

I would like to send my pictorial overseas but I was told that American DVD’s won’t
play in European players?
A: This is true, however, we can editing your finished

Asian & Scandinavian countries.
Q:
How much is the added fee for a PAL formatted DVD?
A: $20.00 for the conversion.
$7.00 per additinal copy.
Q:
